Programme overview
The Media Academy will review the burden of pneumococcal disease and the role of vaccines in Europe, and will feature presentations by a panel of internationally renowned speakers including:
- Global influenza pandemic: The impact of pneumococcal pneumonia
Prof. Keith Klugman, Division of Infectious Diseases, Emory University, USA
- Pneumococcal vaccination recommendations and the impact of PCV7 national immunisation programmes across Europe
Prof. Paolo Bonanni (Media Academy Chair)
- Epidemiology and trends of pneumococcal infections
Dr. Helle Bossen Konradsen, Statens Serum Institut, Denmark
- Understanding the impact of vaccination on AOM
Prof. Jerome Klein, Boston University School of Medicine, USA
- Wyeth’s commitment to reducing the burden of pneumococcal disease

The Media Academy will also feature a round-table discussion with the faculty and there will be an opportunity to conduct one-to-one interviews. Country break-out sessions will take place over a working lunch and will provide local context about the impact of pneumococcal disease and the role of vaccines.
